Maui residents and visitors are invited to support University of Hawaiʻi Maui College students and the Maui Food Bank through a fun holiday event. UH Maui College will host a “Giving Back” open house on Friday, December 16, 5–8 p.m. on the Kahului campus’ Great Lawn and Pāʻina Building dining area.

Admission is free to the UH Maui College Giving Fair. There will be prepared foods for purchase—Korean chicken bowl and a veggie meal—and proceeds will benefit UH Maui College Student Basic Needs; entertainment by Ahumanu 4, Tarvin Makia and the Maui Dance Club; a decorated golf cart parade and contest; Maui Mompreneur craft booths; games and more.

“Our college is, literally, at the center of our community,” said Chancellor Lui Hokoana. “We’re inviting the public to an event that will be fun and informative. We want to demonstrate that UH Maui College is a great place for students of all ages to come and complete their higher education. We also want to encourage community involvement and build engagement, to bring awareness and raise resources for our students’ basic needs.”

Attendees should bring a mat, blanket or beach chair and refillable water bottles. Non-perishable food donations for the Maui Food Bank are also encouraged.

“It’s the season of giving—we want to give back to our community and invite our community to help us,” Hokoana said.
