Four sailing boats on the ocean

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa sailing team had a strong showing at the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference match race fall championships, finishing in second place after a tight duel against conference rival and host Stanford University.

Five teams competed in the regatta held October 15–16, and completed a double round-robin of competition. Owen Lahr skippered for UH with Devon Stapleton and Bastien Rasse serving as crew. The trio put on an outstanding performance winning seven of eight head-to-head races.

UH and Stanford were tied after the double round robin, only losing a single race against each other. The regatta title was ultimately determined on a sail-off in the twilight hours on October 15 with Stanford squeezing out the victory.
