University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Shidler College of Business hosted its 2022 Hall of Honor Awards on Thursday, October 13, at the Sheraton Waikīkī to celebrate four distinguished business leaders and alumni. The event also raised $340,500 in support of the Shidler college.
This was the first Hall of Honor event held in-person since 2019. It was held virtually since the start of the pandemic. Honorees were selected based on their demonstration of business excellence in their professions, contributions to their community and dedication to the Shidler college.
The 2022 inductees are:
- Julie Arigo, BBA ’88, general manager, Halepuna Waikīkī by Halekulani
- Terry George, MBA ’09, president and CEO, Harold K.L. Castle Foundation
- Shelee Kimura, BBA ’95, president and CEO, Hawaiian Electric Co.
- Paul Tse, BBA ’76, MBA ’78, executive director, Golden Crown Development Ltd.
“This event is held each year to celebrate the achievements of our alumni and friends,” Shidler College of Business Dean Vance Roley said. “We are grateful for the partnership with the Shidler College of Business Alumni Association, and to everyone who contributed so generously to make this evening special. These honorees are stellar role models for our students as they demonstrate sound leadership, unwavering integrity and steadfast service to their communities.”
The Hall of Honor Awards is the largest fundraiser held in partnership with the Shidler College of Business Alumni Association. The funds raised from this event support the Shidler College of Business Advancement Fund, which boosts student programs and scholarships, faculty research, alumni outreach and special programs.
Shidler alumna and 2014 Hall of Honor recipient Gina Mangieri emceed the event. Hawaiian Electric, Hawaiian Electric Industries and American Savings Bank served as presenting sponsors; Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa was the contributing sponsor; and Pacific Business News was the event media sponsor.
