The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa women’s cross country team began the 2022 season with a team win at the Big Wave Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course on September 3. The Rainbow Wahine also claimed the top three spots in the meet’s individual results.
Senior Caelan Miller placed first overall in a meet for the first time in her cross country career, crossing the finish line at 19:00.3. Last year, Miller finished in fourth place with a time of 19:53.92 in the same event.
Last year’s Big Wave Invitational winner, senior Sophia Morgan, came in second place with a time of 19:19.6. Freshman Keilah Wilkes claimed third place in her first career collegiate meet, with a time of 19:35.7.
“Today was a good day for us,” said Head Coach Tim Boyce. “The first meet of a season is always difficult, but we know it’s setting the pace for the season, so we know what we need to work on. But today went as well as I could have hoped for. We’re all very happy with how today went.”
Next up on UH’s schedule is the UC Riverside Invitational on September 17.
