Two of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo baseball team’s top players earned All-PacWest team honors.
Joseph Gallagher was voted to the first team as designated hitter and shortstop Casey Yamauchi was voted to the third team.
Gallagher batted cleanup for the Vulcans with a .348 batting average, 57 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 39 RBIs.
Yamauchi was UH starting shortstop and lead off batter. He had the highest batting average in the PacWest (.403) and the fewest strikeouts (7). He racked up 75 hits, a PacWest leading 21 doubles, and one triple. The Big Island native was busy on defense, being part of 21 double plays and ending the season with a .941 fielding percentage.
The Vulcans finished 27-19 overall and 15-17 in the Pacific West Conference, leaving them at sixth place in league standings.
