University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo basketball players Nikki Miller and Darren Williams had big weeks in close Vulcan losses and are the Pepsi Athletes of the Week for the last week of November.
Vulcan post player Miller had a monster game in a 72-70 loss to Dakota Wesleyan University on November 23. She had 14 points and tied the UH Hilo record with 19 rebounds in the contest. It was Miller’s third double-double in three games.
Point guard Williams had three solid games during tough losses on the road. Williams totaled 52 points in the three games, with 13 rebounds, 15 assists and four steals. In an overtime thriller at Alaska Fairbanks on November 27, Williams had a career-high 29 points with five rebounds, six assists and a steal.
Both teams will open Pacific West Conference play this week by hosting Concordia University Irvine and Point Loma Nazarene University.
