University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Vulcan volleyball standouts Bria Beale and Sydney Gott are this week’s Pepsi Athletes of the Week.
Beale had double-doubles in a loss to Academy of Art University on November 4 and a win over Fresno Pacific University on November 6. She led her team with 14 kills in both matches, and 12 and 18 digs, respectively. Beale was also honored as a semifinalist in the NCAA Women’s of the Year ballot, finishing in the top 10 for Division II and top 30 overall.
Middle blocker Gott had 10 kills and hit .389 in the Vulcans’ win over Fresno Pacific, and paced the team with five block assists. Against Academy of Art, she was also in double figure-kill numbers with 12, hitting a robust .500. She also had three block assists. On the season, Gott has started every match and is second on the team in block assists (41) and solo blocks (6).
