Bachman Hall with two people walking in front

The University of Hawaiʻi has begun the search for two leadership positions—the vice president for Academic Strategy and the executive director of Equity Assurance.

The vice president for Academic Strategy will be responsible for driving academic strategy and innovation across the UH System, and leading initiatives that advance academic relevance and excellence as well as student success across our campuses.

A search advisory committee that will include representation from the campuses and community leaders, will screen applicants, conduct interviews and make a recommendation to UH President David Lassner, who will then present a recommendation to the Board of Regents.

The executive director of Equity Assurance was established as of July 2021, and Assurance is one of several “hybrid” offices with UH System and UH Mānoa responsibilities. The position will lead efforts and initiatives relating to Title IX, EEO/AA and related matters, working collaboratively with other university offices.

For this director level search, Lassner will receive input from campus representatives and stakeholders, and then will present a recommendation to the BOR. The start date for the both leadership positions will be determined based on the availability of the selectees.
