University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo volleyball stars senior Kaila Lizama and freshman Emily Wade earn the Pepsi Athlete of the Week honors during Senior Week.
Libero Kaila Lizama had the perfect ending to her Senior Week during two matches at home. Lizama helped her team to two more victories from the service line and on defense. In a three-set win over Holy Names, she zipped in a career-high five service aces and had one more in a five-set thriller over Academy of Art. On the season, Lizama leads the Vulcans with 571 digs (4.92 per set) and 30 aces.
Freshman Emily Wade almost stole the show on Senior Night. Wade finished with 17 kills in the victory over the Urban Knights, hitting .444 in the process. She also had two solo blocks and nine block assists. On the week, Wade had 23 kills and 14 assisted blocks. She leads the Vulcans with a .338 hitting percentage and is second on the UH Hilo team in kills with 2.72 per set.
