The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) announced a special discount for University of Hawaiʻi students, faculty and staff for 2019 SACNAS—The National Diversity in STEM conference, which is scheduled from October 31 to November 2, 2019, at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center.

In June, the University of Hawaiʻi signed on as the presenting sponsor of the country’s largest multidisciplinary and multicultural STEM diversity event, to support the convening of an estimated 4,000 STEM professionals, scientists, engineers and college students in Hawaiʻi.

The UH promotion runs August 28–September 19, 2019 and is intended to help make the 2019 conference as widely accessible to as many students and professionals of UH system’s 10 campuses as possible.

UH registrants are encouraged to access the discount, worth $50 off regular pricing (see price chart), by going to the UH Office of STEM Education website to register and by entering the special discount code: 808SPECIAL on the payment page during the registration process. The discount is available to all registrants who are Hawaiʻi residents, with the exception of those with installment plans and exhibitors.

When UH’s sponsorship was announced in June, UH President David Lassner said, “With the most diverse campuses in the nation, the University of Hawaiʻi is perfectly aligned with the mission and goals of SACNAS. This is also an amazing opportunity to showcase the work of our faculty bringing together Hawaiʻi’s traditional indigenous knowledge and practice with modern science to better understand and address the challenges and opportunities we all face.”
