The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Outreach College presents the KIDS FIRST! film festival on four consecutive Sundays in July at the UH Mānoa Art Auditorium. In its 13th year, this summer event offers family-friendly films from around the world.
The festival will showcase animation and live-action shorts suitable for ages 3 and older. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. The program starts at 3 p.m. with door prizes followed by the screening.
KIDS FIRST! opens on July 7, with an all-animation program including television favorites and independent films geared to children ages 3 and older. The July 14 award-winning films, selected for keiki ages 5 and above, span the globe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Singapore, United Kingdom and the U.S.
The event on July 21, intended for ages 8 and older, will feature films about puppies, cats, fish and horses as well as stories about human adventures. Finally, on July 28, the screening is for a variety of ages and focuses on empowered youth who are making a difference in the world they will inherit.
