Two University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo softball standouts hit and pitched their way to this week’s Pepsi Athletes of the Week.

In this past weekend’s four-game series against Academy of Art, Mejia pitched her team to two wins improving to 11–2 this season. In the series opener on Friday, she didn’t give up earning a run in with a 10–1 victory, allowing four hits in the five-inning mercy rule victory and fanning six. At the plate, she drove in five runs, hitting a single, double and triple on the afternoon. On Saturday, she had a no-hitter through four innings before settling for a seven-inning win, allowing just four hits, one run and again striking out six. She had a hit and drove in two more runs, giving her seven RBI in two days.

Kiarra Lincoln

Lincoln played her typical sterling defense as the Vulcans won three of four games against Academy of Art over the weekend. She went 6 for 11 in the three games, including 6 for 9 in the first trio of contests. Lincoln scored four runs, drove in four runs, had a double and a home run. In the field, she had 10 chances without an error and on the season has a .964 fielding percentage. At the plate, she leads the Vulcans in hitting (.333), runs scored (34), RBI (32) and is tied for the UH Hilo lead in home runs with five.
