Students playing music

Students of the music program at Windward Community College are honing their piano, ʻukulele and slack key guitar skills for an end-of-semester concert series at Palikū Theatre.

April 30
Kamuela Kimokeo’s Hawaiian ensemble (ʻukulele and slack key guitar) and ʻukulele classes in Hanauna Mele will perform on Monday, April 30, 7–9 p.m. Students will play original compositions as well as arrangements they have been practicing in class. The event also features special musical guest, Amy Hānaialiʻi.

May 2
The piano concert, under the direction of So Jin Kimura, will take place on Wednesday, May 2, at 7 p.m. Students will perform pieces they learned this semester.

May 4
Ron Loo’s ʻukulele and slack key guitar students will perform on Friday, May 4, at 7 p.m. The theme is “Sharing the Experience,” and Loo will showcase the performances of his beginning ʻukulele and slack key guitar students. Special musical guest artists include Gordon Mark and Pomaikaʻi Loo.
