Universities around the country are presenting scholarships to athletes in memorable fashion these days and University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Head Football Coach Nick Rolovich is fast becoming the master of the reveal.
Most college coaches would agree that one of the most rewarding parts of the job is awarding scholarships to student-athletes. It is one of the most significant ways to recognize work and talent, and a scholarship has a tremendous financial (and many times emotional) impact on the recipient and his or her family.
UH’s Rolovich has added extra excitement to this tradition, with his creativity. Examples in 2017 include colluding with WWE wrestlers, famous K-pop singers and a hypnotist to make some of college football’s most memorable presentations. It has also generated well deserved attention for the athletes and their accomplishments, and in each case, gone viral.
