Christina Gerhardt

Christina Gerhardt, a University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa assistant professor of German, will be a visiting scholar at Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley during the 2017–18 academic year. Both appointments support her new book project 1968 and West German Cinema.

Gerhardt is author of Critique of Violence: Screening the Red Army Faction (2018); co-editor of two volumes 1968 and Global Cinema (2018) and Celluloid Revolt: German Screen Cultures and the Long Sixties (2018); and guest editor of 1968 and West German Cinema, a special issue of The Sixties 10 (2017).

The Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies was founded in 1969 at Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences to promote the interdisciplinary understanding of European history, politics, economy and societies.

The Institute of European Studies at UC Berkeley seeks to enrich the United States’ understanding of Europe—its people, developments and challenges—through the generation and dissemination of distinguished scholarship. Gerhardt taught at UC Berkeley from 2000 to 2006.
