Hawaiʻi Community College will hold a series of free coaching workshops on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24 in Kealakekua and Hilo. Workshops include an introduction to student coaching, coaching for calm, effective communication using basic coaching techniques and more.

The workshops will provide new skills for those who work in education, workforce development and service-oriented organizations. Participants will gain a better understanding of the mindsets of students/clients and learn to improve communications using that knowledge.

Both the Kealakekua and Hilo workshops will be facilitated by team members of the Hoʻa Coaching Program. Established in April 2014, the program consists of student success coaches from across the seven UH Community College campuses. They work closely with academic advisors, counselors, retention specialists and other resources on their campuses to support students in achieving their personal, academic and other professional goals.

Sponsored by the US Department of Labor’s Community College and Career Training (C3T-1) grant and Hawaiʻi CC, these workshops are free of charge.

For the full list of workshops, read the Hawaiʻi CC news release. To sign up, please contact Lily Chan-Harris by email email or phone, (808) 937-0950.
