First new UH Press director in 25 years

UH Press, which was founded in 1947, is currently led by Director William Hamilton, who will be retiring from the position. Since its founding, UH Press has grown from a largely regional press to one of the most respected publishers of Asian and Pacific studies titles in the world.

Currently, UH Press publishes 60–70 new books and publishes and distributes 20 journals annually in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. It has more than 1,300 book titles in print, with sales in excess of $3 million annually.

“The University of Hawaiʻi Press is known all over the world for the quality of its books and journals and plays a crucial role in the reputation of the university for Asian and Pacific studies,” said UH Mānoa Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Reed Dasenbrock. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bill Hamilton for his capable leadership of the Press for the past 25 years and to wish him well on his retirement.”
