Celebrate Conflict Resolution Day with University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Associate Professor Brien Hallett, author of Declaring War: Congress, the President and What the Constitution Does Not Say, on Thursday, October 18, 4 p.m. at Saunders Hall Courtyard. The first 20 copies sold will be signed by the author.

Hallett will give a short talk on his book and draw the connection to the annual Conflict Resolution Day by showing how re-evaluating declarations of war is a necessary first step in resolving international conflict

Conflict Resolution Day is an annual day to promote awareness of mediation, arbitration, conciliation and other peaceful means of resolving conflict. Participants are encouraged to use conflict resolution in schools, families, businesses, communities, governments and the legal system. The significant contributions of international peaceful conflict resolvers will be recognized and celebrated around the world on the same day. The Spark M. Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution dedicates this day to dispute resolution practitioners who help educate students and the public about mediation and other innovative conflict management processes.

The Matsunaga Institute is sponsoring this event. For more information, call (808) 956-6459.
