The John Young Museum is honored to host this upcoming workshop!

Title: Archival Practice and Museum Collection: Processing Artwork on Paper
Date: September 25, 1:00- 3:00pm
Lead by: Charise Michelsen, Processing Archivist, Daniel Inouye Papers, UHM
Attendees: Maximum 10-12 people

Topics of Workshop:

  • How to organize material (by donors, subject matter, material type, etc.)
  • How to file and/or digitize attached documents
  • Compare and contrast before/after boxes. Discuss problems that occur with acidic materials and environmental issues.
  • Steps to process artworks on paper: assessments and condition reports.
  • Workshop: re-house artworks in the John Young collection.

About Charise Michelsen:
Since March 2014, Charise Michelsen has been working in the Archives and Manuscripts Department at UH Manoa’s Hamilton Library, where she’s responsible for the archival preservation of late Senator Inouye’s Congressional Papers. Previous positions she has held include assistant to the head of the Preservation Department in Hamilton Library, as well as the Society of Asian Art of Hawaii intern at the Honolulu Museum of Art from 2013-2014.
