Concept Requirements

""

Programs should support campus initiatives and UH System priorities and serve to educate and inform our community. Appropriate content can include, but is not limited to, workshops, webinars, special events, guest speakers, and performances. This does not minimize the importance of ancillary programs, which are supplemental resources for credit courses.

Content Policy

Programming should NOT include the following:

  1. Materials designed or intended to promote the sale of commercial products, trade or services;
  2. Material containing any direct appeal for contributions of funds, support, or other property of value, even if the appeal is for a tax-exempt, certified non-profit entity;
  3. Material inviting viewers to take action in the purchase of a product and/or referral to use of service(s) that is not free of charge;
  4. Audio or visual reference to any business, service, or product for which any economic consideration was received by anyone in exchange for the display, announcement and/or reference to such business, enterprise, product or service, with the exception of financial sponsorship.

Violation to this policy may result in the cable access channel prohibiting the course or program from broadcasting on their channel.

UH Departments interested in producing a program to air on the higher education channel may submit our HENC Video Production Request Form.

Requests will be reviewed to determine whether:

  • Program meets concept requirements and content policy
  • Development to completion is possible given the proposed timeline to air the program on channel.
  • Availability of campus production resources
