The U.S. Department of State has announced that as of January 1, 2020, the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has suspended all consular services until further notice. This means that all nonimmigrant visa services are also suspended. Nonimmigrant visa applicants can apply at any U.S. embassy or consulate in another country or at the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil. Official notice can be read on the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Iraq website.
The State Department has also issued a travel advisory for Iraq, and has urged American citizens to depart Iraq immediately.
