Anyone recognize this dashing Pacific Islands Studies superstar? Welcome to CPIS Throw Back Thursdays #CPISTBT! As part of 2020’s “Making Waves: 70 Years of Pacific Islands Studies,” we’ve reached deep into the CPIS photo vault and will bring you a blast from the past every Thursday through the end of 2020. Take a visual journey with us through seven decades of #CPISfriends and family who are at the core of our Pacific Islands Studies community!
And why not invite more to join our community? Each Thursday, like the featured #CPISTBT photo and tag a friend in the comments section below who doesn’t already follow CPIS. If and when that friend follows our CPIS page, you’ll both be entered into a drawing to win some awesome prizes. Drawings will be live streamed at the end of each month. If you have some photos to share for our weekly Throw Back Thursdays, send us a private message.
Today’s #CPISTBT star is none other than Dr. Vilsoni Hereniko. Fondly known to many in our community as Vili, he is an internationally celebrated playwright, film director, and scholar. Prior to his current appointment as Professor in the UH Manoa Academy for Creative Media, Vili served as core faculty and director of CPIS, as well as Director of the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture, and Pacific Studies at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. CPIS extends a sincere Mahalo to Vili for his ongoing support of Pacific Islands Studies and its students!
Welcome to #CPISThrowbackThursday!
