David Stevens Receives Wedemeyer Excellence in Teaching Award

Congratulations to David Stevens for being this year’s recipient of the Dan J. Wedemeyer Excellence in Teaching Award administered by the Graduate Division!

This award honors a doctoral student who has demonstrated outstanding skill and concern for student learning while teaching at least two courses as instructor of record in a CIS related program. David is a CIS PhD student who has excelled in teaching seven semesters of ICS 110P, which makes him eligible for the award, but his accomplishments as an educator go much further: He is currently also a full-time Assistant Professor at UH KCC, and also has organized a Cybersecurity internship program in collaboration with ICS, KCC, and the US Naval Information Warfare Center of the Pacific.

The award is named in honor of the late Emeritus Professor Dan J. Wedemeyer, who served as a mentor and model for excellence in teaching for hundreds of graduate students over the course of his career in the School of Communications and the Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Communication and Information Sciences.

The Wedemeyer Award is fully endowed and will continue to be given annually by the Graduate Division. CIS is grateful for the dedication of all of our students who make valuable contributions to teaching in and supporting our CIS-affiliated programs. Please watch the CIS lists for further announcements about nominating students for this honor in future years.
