4.   What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
He was very clear on the requirements for the course
He's always available for consultation. If there was anything we needed help with, we could ask.
He helped facilitate meetings with the clients. He was available to answer questions pretty easily.
The instructor was always there when asking questions. Always provided good feedback on Milestone.
Office hours
meetings
The help he provides
Great instructions for assignments
Flexible class structure
The instructor was clear about his requirements and deadlines for this course. He attended class ready to help all students and provided lots of time to seek guidance. He is also very fast in responding.
Was always available for questions and answers quickly
Helped with team skills, and time management.
Very hands off but is available for help if you reach out.
Flexibility in staying home and working on projects, rather than having to go in to class.
Was very understanding of our skill level and didnt expect us to do anything that was unrealistic.
Prof. Moore had many ways to contact/meet with him if we had any questions/concerns.
He was often available for questions and gave good tips on how our projects should proceed
How
His willingness to help and answer questions
What I found most valuable and helpful about the instructor is that he is good at giving advice on certain questions without explicitly giving answers and leading us to think about it further.
He was available when we needed help.
Very helpful, able to respond to concerns very quickly.
Helped make clear how to approach our projects
got to work on a project
He was always there if anyone needed assistance
It was great that he had reminders of important days like having our Zoom meetings.
The instructor managed to gather speakers almost every week, which was great.
The most valuable aspects of the instructor were their deep knowledge of the subject matter and their ability to present complex concepts clearly. He breaks down the issues from customer into pieces so I could easily understand and handle them in project.
He had a lot of time for office hours.

5.   What did you find least valuable and helpful about the instructor?
He was not very available to ask questions to.
Nothing.
The course is too hands-off. I would have liked a little more structure or clearer instructions on what we should be focusing on for each milestone and maybe some real-time feedback on if we are doing reviews correctly.
Wish we had more information on how to do certain parts of the assignment.
Didn't know a lot/was unsure about SPIRE when answering questions
guideless
Unsure
Alot of excel work

Having all the information be on the website felt a little like a fully online course.
Would've appreciated a little more guidance, was a little to flexible.
I can't think of any at the moment.
I wish the grades would be inputted throughout the semester

The least valuable and helpful thing about the instructor is that he is very hands off. While being the least helpful trait, it makes sense because it is up to us to reach out instead of the instructor always being over our shoulders.

Was a bit hands off during the whole semester
He couldn’t help with everything
I wished this class didn't become an async class because a lot of my teammates became lazy and haven't done any work at all.
The mandatory attendance midway through the semester felt like a punishment.
I don't feel any issues with instructor. I thought this class is most valuable for my future career.
He was too hands off on explaining how the project we were doing worked. Understanding the spreadsheet with the formulas we were given was very hard. He also didn't post grades in a timely manner.

6.   The instructor is fair and objective in evaluating students.

8.   Which aspect of the course were most valuable?
Working on a project for actual clients.
The website. It lays everything that we need to know and do in a very nice and easy way. It makes things a lot easier than navigating Laulima.
Given free reign to design the application as you wish. I really enjoyed practicing react hooks and finding new ways to build the app without being railroaded in one direction.
Experience in coding.
Practiced react
projects
Team building and communication
Teamwork and communication
Customer Milestone Feedback
I think what was most valuable about this course is the team work that we all get and learn. The team that works consistently and communicates in a timely manner would perform the best and it clearly shown between the groups in our class.
The customer meetings and the experience working on a project for a client
the milestones and code reviews as well as the team presentation.
Figuring out the project on our own.
Very good experience in working with real sponsors and what working with a big team is like.
The structure and the process of going through the project throughout the semester. We were also provided with the necessary resources for each step.
Building our own project and working with others really taught me a lot more tips and tricks
Being able to have him answer questions not just through email but discord.
The customer meetings
Having the opportunity to work on a project that a client may potentially use. Being able to apply my knowledge was most valuable.
This course was mostly group work. Was less reliant on the professor.
Learning how to do group work with everyone and manage resources, the whole course allowed me to develop skills that I can apply to my real-world career.
Gaining experience from working with a customer to deliver a product, working with other people, stepping forward to lead a group
The client meetings
Real client that needs a good product and gave as much feedback as possible. It was great that he gave us freedom to do whatever we wanted for our projects.
The guest speaker talks were great.
Real-world Projects: Practical assignments allowed us to apply theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios, enhancing our understanding and skills. Group discussions and team projects fostered collaboration and diverse perspectives, enriching the learning experience. Constructive feedback on assignments helped us identify areas for improvement and guided our learning effectively.
I think doing an actual project for an actual customer was a good simulation for how the real world works and helped prepare us for the real world more.

9.   Which aspect of the course were least valuable?
Not being taught the proper way to interact with clients.
Nothing.
There is no disincentive to free-ride as group reviews are only worth 10% of the grade. Half of our group did not commit anything valuable during the ENTIRE semester. Their 'participation' commits are essentially adding a sentence to a <p></p> tag or capitalizing a letter or just breaking the code and making us fix it and they still get the same grade (+/- 10%). The overall morale of my group is on the floor because we have 3.5/8 people working and everyone else sitting back watching.

We worked with a finances company which made this class a lot more about understanding financial models rather than understanding how to code
no management in groups projects
Unsure of the direction sometimes.
Backend designing if the site
Less clear on exact end results the company is looking for, maybe make a mock-up at beginning of semester to just show students what should be like

Nothing to say really. The group size did feel large.
Didn't punish students for not keeping up as much as I thought he should've people were getting away with high grades while doing almost nothing.
Not being able to choose people in our group and ending up with some who don't touch the project at all

The Assignments on laulima
The lack of explicit guidance throughout the course. The sheer amount of freedom for an actual project produced some choice paralysis leading to slow downs in the project.
N/a
The amount of people working on one project were maybe too big, 4-5 people would've been more suitable for this project
The site instructs for assignments were something a little confusing
Becoming async being my team did not feel obligated to do work anymore. The freedom made my team have no structure to work together especially since our schedules are completely different.
The guest feedback forms felt tedious and a distraction.
The project was back-end heavy, and there wasn't too much to do on the front-end as a result, leaving a lot of people who preferred doing the front-end with little to do at certain points in the project.

With one structure of the course, with it not being mandatory to meet in class (which ever time the group decides), it's hard to stay in contact with everyone as some people may just stop responding. That's not so much the courses fault and maybe more of just a problem that occurs with working within a larger group.

two group members stopped showing up and then another group memeber basically does nothing. please dont focus on commit numbers alone but how much actual code and functionality were added. also the other groups totally copied VYF like 100% they didnt even change any of it which is lame on them.
I would've appreciated some more teaching like how to do some of the basic structures the client needed. For example, I didn't understand how other people got their data input to look like an actual excel. I wish there was more practice for this in 314 at least.
There was no TA or lab for the course, so the questions asking about that were irrelevant.

We met for the first couple of weeks. It was a project base class so it was up to our team when we wanted to meet and talk each week.
