2.   My overall evaluation of this course is...
An incredibly valuable course for Asian Americans with limited historical studies. Format of reading scholarly articles then application to writing, discussion, and Q&A with guest speakers generates manifold effects.
I give this course a 100/100.
100/100, the course was very informational and also brought about topics that people are normally shamed for talking about. Truly enjoyed this class and the professor.
I really enjoyed this class, and listening to all the guest speakers
The material was hearty and challenging but was very affective and interesting. Moves quite fast but is understandable for an advanced course.
It is a very good evaluation because I learned many things in this class and was being respectful of others
It was great. Very well informed
This is a good intro to Asian American history. And while there is so much more that can be learned, this course provides a great stepping stone into the understanding and analysis of the contributions Asian Americans had to U.S. history.
My evaluation of this course was very helpful in enriching my learning experience about Asians in America. It was very written based, but I still enjoyed learning about the important events and dates that helped shaped Asians in America. I was very satisfied from the readings, conversations in our class, assignments, forum posts, and speakers coming to our class. All the information that was given to me from this class I will carry on with me in my other classes and outside of school.
I would recommend this course to anyone and everyone I know within the UH system.
An excellent course overall. Though it is a writing-intensive course, at least the Professor makes sure to give clear instruction and allows herself to be available for help and coaching. The content of the course is divided not only into lectures but it challenges the student to be the lecturers themselves and to lead discussions. It is an enlightening course on Asian American History: for Asian Americans, and Asian immigrants, and also studies the interactions, influences, and impacts of other ethnicities on AsAm history.

3.   If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
This course helped in understanding the Asian American identity in Hawaii, within the context of US history. Course had escalated personal interest to see the world in a historical purview.
This class has enhance my knowledge in the field of my major which is History.
This course enhanced my personal and professional development because i left each class a different person than when i joined. I started to look closer at issues that have been going on in the Asian American community and how colonialism and imperialism had started to affect everything.
I had a more in-depth look into asian American history and learned a lot from taking this class.
This helped to fill one of my writing intensive requirements for my BA degree.
It was to fulfill my requirements, but I am glad that I took it because I learned so much new things from this class that I did not know about, especially in America.
It allowed me to understand a lot more about racism
This course helped fulfill my written intensive requirement, but it also helped me as a psychology major because now it helps me be more aware of racism towards Asians and the white culture. It will help me in my professional and personal development because I can be able to identify when someone is being racist and helps me better understand why one might feel a deep hat towards white people or Asian. This course helps me be more aware of what is going on in society and in cultures.
Although this course was not required for my major it caused me to think critically, helped improve my writing, and was one of the most enjoyable classes I've taken in a while.
It was taken to help fulfil a Writing Intensive requirement. It enhanced both personal and professional through letting me learn more of history in a realistic and unveiled perspective. It helped me interact more with classmates in a professional manner and I could see a lot of psychology and sociology applied to the history, like understanding cultural mindsets.

Supplemental films or documentaries with more entertaining aspects to bolster interest. Incentive to have less formal discussion with peers or instructor via forums or otherwise to build rapport.
None. Dr.Compoc included all the resources that's necessary to succeed in this class.
I don't know if there is anything that could be added to improve my learning. everything was pretty simple to access, read, and think about.
Nothing, I really enjoyed the class overall.

17.   Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
Aside from allocation of more time for discussion to avoid hurriedness, could ask students to make an audio file of sorts to assess general thoughts after reading material. Students, then prior to discussion in class could refer to this in addition to their knowledge from reading.
None.
I liked how the class was structured and that it is more of a discussion based class rather than lecture based because students are able to feed off of each other to keep the discussion going. I think that it made the material easier to digest.
I liked how we had discussion posts each week instead of quizzes, it helped me get a better feel on the learning material without being stressed about passing a quiz.

It was just confusing on what the professor wanted in the forums, so maybe have an example to show what they need to do.

18.   My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Instructor shows fervent zeal with subject matter. Both when speaking of heinous topics, or otherwise finds humor when necessary. Shows an emphatic determination to help students become better. Strongly intelligible and well-connected.
Appreciate instructors like this one that go out of their way to help student's succeed. Also, Dr.Compoc has a way of stimulating our classroom and audience when she teaches. This is what makes her stand out from the rest of the faculty and staff here at UHWO.
100/100, the professor is amazing and also easy to get in contact with and also super understanding of circumstances. I liked that she is able to be stern but still make the class enjoyable.
Very helpful! Great teacher!
Professor Kim Compoc is extremely intelligent and has a great energy for the course she teaches. She is easy to approach and very understanding, yet firm when direction and discipline is needed.
It is a good one overall. She did a really good job fixing our mindset on America and other imperialistic countries and shows how much we need to pay attention to these things in our history.
Amazing
Dr. Compoc is a great professor. She is an awesome person and is a great resource for history and ethnic studies. She is dedicated and compassionate about her field and students.
My overall evaluation of professor Compoc was very satisfied with her teaching style and her way of planning out the course. She was very organized, thoughtful, and reasonable. I enjoyed taking her class because of the way she was hands on with the work and with us. She engaged in thoughtful conversations, opened our class up to topics that are not talked about often. I enjoyed having her as a professor. I wish I could take her again because ever class with her was very important and purposeful.
Excellent, not much else to say.
Professor Compoc was an excellent professor to have this semester. She consistently drew every part of the class back to the subject in a way that could affect both personal and professional perspectives. She was lively and did not shy away from touchy and sensitive issues, knowing when to call something out and knowing when to approach with grace. Her expertise was evident and it was cool that she made us be our own lecturers and had passion for what she taught, which is likely why her class is more memorable to me. She was clear with instructions as well. An excellent professor overall.
