Important course!! The information I learned from taking this course I probably would have never learned anywhere else. There is a lot of reading to do sometimes but overall is manageable.
This class taught me so much things. I enjoyed it very much. It was very interactive which makes learning more interesting.

The work for this course was very reasonable. I enjoyed the meetings however, I wish that they were a little later in the day so that it would not conflict with my work schedule.
Wonderful because I enjoyed the format of this class! The group rotation of reading responses decreased the amount of workload and stress that I had. The large and small group discussions encouraged everyone’s voices to be heard and the human interaction made it feel like a class again. I liked the variety of writing assignments (infographic, film analysis, and guest speaker reflection) because it was a breath of fresh air. Inviting guest speakers with different backgrounds was a great way to broaden my perspective on the concepts I learned in class. I thought it was a good idea that we were given materials to read about the guest speaker beforehand to become more familiar with their work and experience. I liked that our Zoom sessions were recorded and the agendas were uploaded because they became a resource for me to complete my assignments and refresh my memory.

This is completely off my major but history is never nothing. It is something that will help me understand more about history.
The resources we covered in class made me excelled in writing.
I was exposed to many new aspects about Filipinx American history that I will carry with me throughout life.
I took this course to fulfill my requirement for my Asian Studies certificate. I’m glad that I selected this class because not only was I able to learn about the hidden history of Filipinx, I was able to make meaningful connections to my heritage and experiences growing up in Hawaiʻi. The content and class discussions brought attention to issues that I did not know or heard about before. After taking this course, I became more grateful for being Filipino and I was inspired to continue educating myself.

I'm not sure since the instructor already blended videos, readings, and podcasts effectively.
There isn't much to be added to improve this course. If anything, this course could be taught in one day rather than two.
All activities and resources were relevant to the course. The supplemental readings which are optional are already provided by instructor is there to strengthen the broader concepts of the course.

I would say more time in class to discuss and hear from others and more material in class. We didn't have enough group discussion time either. Also more 1921 than 2021.

A suggestion that I have is to create a document with the definitions of the key terms that we covered in class because sometimes I forget what certain words/phrases meant.

I enjoy the flow of the instructor's syllabus as it transitions smoothly when completing new assignments.
Making everyone talk in class.
Please don't have us read as much as you did. Some of us are taking full load and reading 96 pages for a presentation in a week is challenging to say the least. If you need to make it through something, like an entire book, maybe choose sections of the book for us to read that are important instead of spending whole weekends reading. I don't want to just read, I want to research too the author and material, I had no time to do so.
Also less opinion on things going on would be great. I don't mind hearing others thoughts, but during class it should be more facts and learning about history as it is a history class than current rights missing in society in 2021. I heard a lot of opinion on abortion, lgbtq rights, etc. and would have preferred to learn more about politics in the Philippines in the 10's and 20's but learned more about that from the readings.
The only critiques I have for this instructor is that some explanations of the course material could have been made more clear and understandable.
Maybe add helpful examples and illustrations to clarify the material as needed. Furthermore, the instructor did not grade materials within a reasonable period; I was not even clear on what counted towards my final grade.

Again I recommend to any student, Professor Compoc is very inspiring in the fact that she shares such real and important topics of humanity. A fantastic teacher, however I definitely did not fulfill my role as a student this semester and I deeply apologize. I learned very much from this course and will carry it with me for the rest of my life. Mahalo nui.

The professor is passionate, lively, never boring, and certain of her viewpoint. This is good for us as students. It can be difficult to feel we can express ourselves and differing opinions, so I stayed silent the entire course.
