17.   What two or three single words best describe this instructor?
passionate, helpful, smart
enthusiastic, intelligent, friendly
In all honesty, I was most excited about taking this course. The whole reason I decided to major in computer science was to gain knowledge and be able to develop and design website applications and software. I enjoyed his enthusiasm and encouragement. Computer science is a difficult subject, and it can be even harder if one is discouraged by past failures. It really helped me to see that there was potentially a place for me in the field, and I was learning what I desired to learn. The only part that was difficult for me was the WODs. It was stressful, but I got better as the class went on, so I feel like I was learning the material better than I thought after a couple of weeks.

28.   Additional Comments
I really liked the class overall and I feel like I learned a lot however if I could change one thing I would make it so that the WODs weren't graded on an all or nothing basis. The WODs are worth a lot of points and I don't like that I could lose out on all those points because I made a minor mistake. Although, I like that there are numerous extra credit opportunities.
The teaching assistant is always readily available to provide assistance to students. The teaching assistant was highly responsive, even an hour before assignments are due. The teaching assistant is very understanding of the students and is very helpful. The instructor also attempts to build relationships between his students by prompting an ice-breaker question at the beginning of each lecture for each student to answer and by pairing them up with different people twice a week for WOD activities. The professor also assigns a group project.

None.
Amazing
This instructor gives so many resources, and teaches a lot not only about the course content, but also things that will be valuable in your professional environments in the future.
Was an intensive course but was not hard.

29.   What was the format of this class? online synchronous (class scheduled for particular days and times) online asynchronous (class conducted online - no scheduled class meeting)

31.   What were the positive and negative aspects of online learning in this class?
Positive: convenient, can learn from anywhere Negative: no face to face interaction
Negative aspects: hard to retain information and be engaged in the material Positive aspects: many outlets to ask questions (peers, instructor, TA)
The positive aspects were the quick feedback from the Professor and TA, and also made it easier to take the class remotely. The negative aspects were that sometimes there was internet issues. The class would have been better and more fun if it were in person.
A positive aspect of the online learning in this class was adopting a popular messaging platform (Discord) to use as a means of communication. This made reaching out to the professor, TA, and other students much easier within a distance learning environment. However, a negative aspect of online learning in this class is the ability to work effectively with other students for group assignments. This is in no fault of the structure of the course (as I believe it was adapted well to the distance learning format), but perhaps rather the nature of online learning in general in that student's sociability may different in an online setting vs an in-person setting.
Positive: the course contained screencasts so it was not really affected by online learning Negative: hard to work together in groups because we could not help each other out while coding.
Positive: - Shows how it feels like to have a job in which you can work remotely, which includes jobs in the tech industry - The experience of online learning for this class feels positive since the work for this class relies on working on a computer program, so talking to people via voice chat is bearable. The instructor made a good decision choosing to conduct his lectures via Discord instead of Zoom. - Another reason why online learning for this class was a positive experience is because this class is reliant on hands-on experience using a computer rather than it being reliant on theoretical/conceptual aspects. Negative: - Takes away in-person interactions between students that builds meaningful relationships within the field - Generally, remote learning feels very isolating
The positives is not having to spend time going to school. While the negatives to me is not physically being able to meet and talk to other students. This class however does a good job of having students work together.
Positives: This class is extremely practical. I work as a programmer (entry-level). I was able to take the concepts of what I learned in class and use them immediately on the job! negatives: None - I like that the class was online.
less interactions
The negative is we do not get to meet other people and make friends. Positive is it was comfortable to study at home.
Positive: everthing Negative: none
positive: well organized course materials; practice WODs and solution videos were very helpful; negative: full-or-nothing grading policy was king of stressful; this class was at fast-pace and covered a lot of content but none has gone in depth;
Positive - The online format allowed it to seem like we got much more done, since we wouldn't need to go to an actual classroom, and we were able to get in class activities done quickly. Negative - Group projects felt less personal than if they would if we were in person.
Group Wods were basically by yourself, class was easy to follow.
The positive was that we could do the work for the class whenever we wanted. The negative was that we had so much time that it was hard to focus and do the work.
