3.   What are the instructor’s major strengths as a teacher?
He is very kind. . He always politely answers student questions
Professor Tobias frequently asks the class if we have any questions throughout the lecture and stays after class to answer questions that students may have. At the start of every lecture, professor Tobias goes over some motivating questions about what we will be learning about.

He provides time that allow students to share their concerns or questions about material. Also, he is very knowledgeable and was well-prepared every time there was class.
Very understanding, explains concepts thoroughly
TF was the best!! ALways responded to emails within an hour to two and always gave solid feedback on every single assignment. I learned a ton and am more motivated to do my part to help reduce carbon emissions and pollution/plastics that enter the water and harm the orgs.
He understands is subject really well and he is caring as a professor.
He really tries his best to make sure everybody is on the same page, teaches logical, important things to know about the course because not everybody is going into marine biology and such, makes it really easy to understand class
He tries to engage the students with visuals so that we can see exactly what is happening in the real world. He thoroughly goes through everything in the Zoom classes and everything is explained in the powerpoints that he provides for us. He is very positive and really wants us to think for ourselves to make sense of science.

Professor Tobias is a great instructor and KCC is luck to have him as a part of their faculty.

Very passionate about his work. Explained things very thoroughly. Was empathetic about situations if work couldn’t be turned in on time.
He knows what he is talking about and supports all students when it comes to questions, comments or concerns.
The lectures are thoroughly planned. Learning materials (PDFs) are provided to students before each lecture. I found this extremely helpful as I took my notes directly in my copy of the PDF to use as a study guide and homework resource. Tobias did a great job of explaining concepts in a way that all students could understand, always stopping to address questions and encourage participation. He tied his own experiences working in the field to topics in the lectures and we were able to see how they related to contemporary research. He responds quickly to any questions about the class and is willing to discuss topics related, but not directly covered. I wish there were more courses offered by Tobias at KCC. I would definitely take them.

- Very friendly - Asks if students have questions - Does not require cameras to be on, but encourages it. It feels nice to have an option.
He had great organization and management skills that do not require students to demonstrate back-breaking efforts in order to complete an assignment/test/quiz. Professor Tobias delivers succinct and comprehensive lectures, all of which have helped to passionately develop my interest in Oceanography. He is supportive and does not show any lack of devotion to his class and students.
His instructions or explanations in a class were really understandable.

More activities and not just lectures
Homework always pertained to lectures decks and was the perfect amount. I just feel bad no as many people turned their cameras on :/
I don't have any recommendations other than having the class in person rather than online but that wasnt possible. The class would of been a lot of enjoyable and engaging in person for sure.

It would have been even better if this was an in-person class.

Pause time in between asking questions and waiting for a response is a little bit long. I recommend reducing pause time.
It is hard to have an online class and have it be interactive when people don't ever respond. So I am not sure if it was the low amount of people answering. One option is to call on specific students as another one of my classes do.

I hope to see Professor Tobias to continue pouring his heart out in his classes, because that is what makes learning worth-while to begin with! An awesome professor, and focused, inquisitive minds.
