28.   Additional Comments
ICS 314 is the best computer science class I've taken so far. Before this class, I felt like I didn't know much about software engineering and I was afraid that I would be in over my head if I applied for an engineering job. This class has taught me so much from marketing myself to web development, and of course software engineering. The WODs were very difficult at first, and I think the grading could be a bit more lenient in the beginning considering most of us have never programmed with a 30-minute time limit before, but once you get the hang of it the WODs are stressful but rewarding and fun. Professor Johnson is great at making unintelligible subjects understandable, and Professor Moore was very helpful when I needed to ask questions. This class honestly sparked my passion for computer science and programming and helped me become more confident in my abilities.
class is almost solely online.
As stressed out as I was for the first month of the class, trying to keep up with homework and figuring out how I would pass my next WOD, I eventually came to really enjoy the class and ended up learning quite a bit. Very happy I took this class ... well, not that I had a choice, but it was definitely more enjoyable than 311.

Thanks for being so supportive!
The course was very intense and frustrating sometimes, but I can't disagree that I ended up learning a lot from it. I'm not a huge fan of the WOD format in the sense that it was largely all or nothing (I'm not sure what instances were given partial credit). While I was mostly okay with the timer to work under pressure, it could get frustrating knowing what to do, but being stuck on one part and ultimately putting all that work and stress into it with nothing to show for it. Though to prevent this from happening I did end up putting a lot of time and effort into doing things over and over again so I wouldn't feel so frustrated, so I guess it worked, just not in a particularly pleasing way. Though I think the biggest stress factors for that were how quickly you had to learn it and move on in between the assignments and having essentially 1 meeting in class before you had to take the WOD. If I could only change one thing about the class within reason, I think I'd want the extra practice they were able to do during the study meetings outside of the classroom available to those who did not/could not go. While I can understand wanting to help those that are motivated to go to these meetings, it wasn't always easy to justify going between other obligations, traffic, and other issues that could pop up. If we were able to at least have the given assignment, even if it wasn't necessarily the answers or the time taken to learn and ask the TA about it, it would be nice to have extra practice and could potentially help get more practice if we weren't able to attend. I also appreciate the writing assignments in this class, it's refreshing to be able to write somewhat free form and be able to express ourselves to some extent without worrying too much about the very technical dry things other classes normally require. While it was definitely a lot of work, I appreciate how much I feel like I have learned during this semester both about coding and the application of it, but also the methods and process behind it. Thank you for an enriching semester despite the setbacks and hardships!
