3.   What are the instructor’s major strengths as a teacher?
Prof. Friedrich explains complex systems in a very simple way so they are easy for everyone to understand. For students with a science background that can be a bit tedious sometimes but that is unavoidable and that way of teaching is definitely great for students without background knowledge about the physics behind all these processes. Moreover, Prof. Friedrich always makes sure there is a comfortable atmosphere in class and he really supports his students to make sure they succeed.
Very helpful and understanding. Brought energy to the materials needed to be taught, made class interesting.
He connects with his students and makes it easy for students to understand, especially those who are not knowledgeable in the field.
Engaging students and getting them to explain the material for themselves in class
He is very good at making topics interesting and keeping the class' attention.
he has a good relationship with his students and he explains the concepts very clearly, making the material accessible to everyone.
He give really good examples to understand the context better
He knows his materials a lot
He is very thorough with his explanations that allows students to understand the content very easily
Major strengths are knowledge of material.
explains complex ideas in ways that are easy to understand.
He made the class somewhat interactive to keep his class engaged. He also didnt force any participation or make you feel embarrassed for giving a wrong answer. He was very understanding and wanted us to do well in his class. I loved his powerpoints and pictures/examples that were not extremely long and boring. He was also readily available for any questions or concerns we had.
Always willing to answer questions. Helps students if struggling in material. Explains material in a way students are able to understand. Makes everyday comparisons between material and life (surfing, etc).
I believe that I can learn more from him about our Ocean
Very knowledgable and passionate about the topics that he taught to the class. Engages students by asking questions which really helps me with learning and understanding.
Knowing his subject well and explaining to us rather than just reading everything off the powerpoint. Going above and beyond giving examples from the slides.

4.   How can the instructor modify the course materials and assignments to better support your learning?
Because I have to print everything out to study the material, it would have been easier if there were not as many unnecessary/duplicate slides. That is not an actual problem, it is just slightly bothering, but also easy to avoid if the original PowerPoint documents were online on Laulima so that slides that do not have to be printed out can be deleted more easily.
I would suggest possibly outlining the test material questions on sheets so that it is easier to study. It can be overwhelming searching the power points filled with information for potential test questions.
It is good how it is
na
i don't think modifications are needed.
If asking questions about the lesson and student answered it right, repeat it in class so everybody could understand more about the discussion because not everyone could hear the students answer and other student might not know the answer.
n/a
The instructor could do more science experiments that could help understand concepts.
it's fine
Absolutely nothing.
Maybe change the time so its not 5-6
Do more experiments in class
I don't think that any improvements need to be made. I really enjoyed this class.
Do a little more in class activity for us to interact with each other more.
