13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher? |

Knows the subject area very well. The Professor is able to teach things in a way where he guides student's thinking in order
to realize the answer rather than just giving us the answer. In many cases students ended up answering their own
questions. The professor also cares about students intuitively understanding the course material which is very helpful.
He is a friendly supportive teacher.
Tobias knows his oceanography material very well. He emphasis the most important points in classes because he knows it will be built upon in future chapter lessons.
Very friendly teacher who has experience in the field.
He certainly made a fun environment for us to learn. Was very open for students to be involved
as he made sure everyone knew what was going on.
He is super engaging and enthusiastic about his subject.
He is able to take very complicated subjects and break them down into digestible information.

Great knowledge and passion about the subject. Made coming to class fun and really was able to make the material resonate and promote an understanding rather than just teach to a test.
Instructor's major strengths as a teacher would always ask if the student have questions for him to answer related to our lessons. Every time
he would answer in an effective way, well explained. Also good prepared to instruct us and organize the class schedule well.

The instructor had many major strengths as a teacher. He was extremely intelligent in the subject material, and he explained
everything very clearly and in a way that was easy to understand. He used real-life scenarios with many of the topics, which made it
easier to understand and comprehend. I enjoyed how he was able to keep the material fun and exciting. I liked how he always
made sure that everyone understood the material. After every presentation, he would ask the class if they had any questions. He
encouraged us all to participate in class discussions.
Tobias Friedrich is well knowledgeable in the realm of Oceanography, and is fitting to teach the
course. His strengths in teaching is breaking down the knowledge of marine science, down to
the simplest explanation. For the students to have a better understanding of the foundation of
the subject. From there he relates the science on a local level and then a global scale.
Tobias encourages class participation, and allows students to be creative and build confidence
in their learning.

Maybe make study guides for tests available a little earlier. It's not a problem, the guides are available for enough time. This
is more of just a preference.

I don't think I would change anything or suggest anything to the instructor, because everything about the class and the professor was
perfect. I really enjoyed this class and everything about it, and I really wish all classes were just like this one.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students? |

He entertained any and all questions asked. He responded to emails, stayed after-class to speak with students, and made
time to speak with students during office hours.
Tobias shows concern by asking us in class if there are any questions. Also, he is available to talk/ask questions after class and through email.
Fast test grades and response time to questions.
Encouraged question asking.
I understand that for me it was nice and thoughtful that he emailed me when I missed class.
Always open for questions.
Answers emails and other inquiries promptly.

Very patient, willingness to open the floor to questions at a good pace to make sure students are internalizing the material
Always ask the student if you have come up with a question just email him at any time and he would answer student's concern.

The instructor showed concern for students by always asking if anyone had any questions. He would make it very clear on several
different occasions that he was always open for his office hours, and could offer help to anyone that needed it. He always went over
our work and quizzes very thoroughly, and left constructive comments and corrections.
Tobias Friedrich shows his concerns for his students by constantly engaging with his class. He
encourages an active participation. He will describe and find different ways to explain the
content until a student fully understands or gets the purpose of it, relative to the course.

Yes I would. This professor is very competent and teaches this STEM class well. The professor makes oceanography
interesting and fun. He encourages students to think for themselves and students learn intuitive knowledge that can be
applied directly to the world around them. He is also the only Oceanography professor at the KCC campus.
Yes. He made the each chapters fun and interesting even though the contents are hard to understand.

I would definitely recommend this instructor to other students. I think that this has been one of the best classes I have ever taken. I
enjoyed going to class, and learning the material of this class was easy and fun. I learned so much in this class, and all the material
will help me greatly with my future endeavors. Without this instructor, the class would not be the same. I will miss this class, and
wish every class was like this.
Yes! I would highly recommend to take this course if you would like to get your feet wet, or
pursue a degree in Marine Science or Oceanography. Easy going, down to earth.

|
Instructor is a very cool guy. I was recommended to his class by a counselor and I knew I was going to enjoy the course
from the first week of class. Hope he continues to teach oceanography and inspire students to learn about the ocean for
years to come.

Just a great teacher who was able to make a subject that could very easily have been boring and horribly complicated, into something exciting and manageable.

glad that I was lucky enough to have an instructor like him. I enjoyed every class and the teaching style that he used. I wouldn't
