Lawrence Seward was born in 1966 in Honolulu. He has a BFA, 1990, from the University of Hawai‘i and a MFA, 1994, from New York University. He is the recipient of a grant from the Marie Walsh Sharp Foundation.

"Untitled (center piece)" represents the union of two people into a single unit. In this case, the back half of each figure is contained within a mold’s core; the mold itself is the minimal representation of a unit.
