God sent a hurricane that caused a nightmare of floods and death to punish the village of Huamuxtitlán, for the scandalous deeds of 16-year-old Rafaela Pérez. She had taken revenge on her parents after they reprimanded her for sleeping with her godfather. Rafaela stabbed, axed, and quartered her mother and stuffed the body parts into the walls of their home. When the devil appeared to her in the form of her godfather she slaughtered her father by stabbing him four times. As Rafaela ran from the house, a quake split open the earth and she fell into the bowels of hell.
