Pag+mul+mula+an<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is a learning environment, a metaphorical garden space for the reclamation of ancestral knowledge and the generation of new ways of knowing. Rooted in the philosophies and practices of the Ilokano language and its wide-reaching diasporic culture, this \u201cschool within a school\u201d will host workshops, artist talks, and film screenings inspired by our plantcestors: kawayan<\/em>, unas<\/em>, marunggay<\/em>, bagas<\/em> & niog<\/em>.<\/p>\nBio<\/strong>
\nRebecca Maria Goldschmidt (b. 1987, Phoenix, Arizona, United States) received her BA in German Studies from Lewis & Clark College in 2008. She is an interdisciplinary artist whose current work reflects on her studies of the Ilokano language and process of uncovering and relearning her Philippine ancestry. Through photography, textiles, video, and print, she explores how relationships to land\/daga<\/em>\/\u2018\u0101ina<\/em> manifest in diasporic communities and culture. She is currently a candidate for an MFA in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Hawai\u2018i at M\u0101noa.\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
