Tonia Moreno, a recent graduate from the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM), is the third up-and-coming young artist to be featured in a solo exhibition at the Parc Promenade Gallery at the Waikiki Parc Hotel. Four exhibitions that feature work by UHM art students or its recent graduates will be presented each year as part of an expanded partnership of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and the Halekulani that established its sister hotel, the Waikiki Parc as the Hospitality Sponsor of the Arts at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Among her accomplishments, Moreno has participated in numerous group exhibitions including Hawaii’s Modern Masters at Luxury Row, 2013, and the 2013 International Student Online Exhibition, organized by the Glass Art Society. She presented a solo installation at the Lyon Arboretum in Mānoa Valley in 2012. Moreno is active in the Glass Art Family club at UHM and is the author of several successful grants that hosted visiting glass artists. Born and raised in California, Moreno earned associate degrees in glass and liberal arts and sciences at Palomar College in San Marcos, California, in 2008. Continuing her education, she enrolled at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa where received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus in glass in 2013. Moreno is the recipient of a Pilchuck Partnership Award in 2013 and the Outstanding Student in Glass Award from University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in 2012.
