Paul Lavy presents a paper at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY) as a part of the institute's symposium "New Perspectives on Hindu-Buddhist Sculpture in Southeast Asia, 5th to 8th Century". Lavy's presentation examined royal power, symbolism, and political relationships as expressed through images of crowned (i.e., "mitred") Hindu deities in early Mainland Southeast Asia: Vishnu, Surya, Durga, and Harihara.
