JACI ISHIKAWA: NEW MURAL AT MAʻEMAʻE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Two sisters, both UHM students, one of whom is our own studio art major Jaci Ishikawa, have completed a new large-scale mural on the walls of an office at Maʻemaʻe Elementary School in Liliha, and have now been commissioned to paint a second office.

‘Throughout this project Jaci said she utilized what she had learned in her art classes at UH Mānoa and Hawaii Baptist Academy. “Composition and how light would affect the colors and shading of the plants, time management, setting goals for the day and perseverance were some of the concepts I applied to my mural painting sessions,” she said.’ Congratulations to Jaci and her collaborators, UHM first-year student Jayni Ishikawa and friend Jazlyn Shimabukuro.
