The primary aim of the exhibition is to draw attention to artists working with fiber and to highlight the variety of ways in which contemporary culture and the issues artists face today are embedded, ‘mashed up’ against, and expressed through the artwork created. Selected works juxtapose or challenge traditional conceptions of fiber – either process or content—through artwork that celebrates the presence of contemporary visual culture as influencer and mediator of culture.
