Phil Jung places his latest body of work, an exploration of the extremely complex social system on the island of O‘ahu, into the historical context and long tradition of photographers who examine the American cultural landscape.

Phil Jung grew up in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York, received his BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and his MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. His artwork has been published in The Boston Globe, The Photo Review, Incandescent, Mossless and Kiblind Magazine in France. In 2009 he was a recipient of the TMC + Kodak Film Grant and received 6th place in the International Photo Review Competition. In 2011 he was chosen for Jen Beckman’s Hey Hot Shot award. Jung has participated in exhibitions at The Griffin Museum of Photography, Houston Center for Photography, Foley Gallery in New York City, and Black Box Gallery in Seattle. Selections of his work can be purchased through the Boston Drawing Project at Carroll and Sons Gallery in Boston.
