According the information you have entered, this specimen is not Wasmannia auropunctata, "the little fire ant." Remember, although it may be exciting to find this important species, it is considered a damaging nuisance. The fewer of these ants we find, the better the health of our island ecosystems.
If you are a participant of the monitoring program through your school, be sure to return the specimen to the numbered bottle or labeled collection bag. Do not mix this specimen with ones collected from different places! It is very important that your collections data are not mixed with others.
