Sundays â June 23 & 30; July 14 & 21 The KIDS FIRST! Film Festival, presented by Outreach College, returns for another summer of quality family fun. Films are free of gratuitous violence; race, gender, or religious bias; inappropriate content; and condescension towards children. Age-appropriate groupings of films entertain through a balance of animation and live action, plus varied themes from different cultures. Door prizes!

Led Zeppelin show opens at WCC Imaginarium

For the first time ever in the islands, Windward Community College's Hokulani Imaginarium will feature "Led Zeppelin" in a purely entertaining show that combines classic rock music and mind-blowing graphics in full dome digital technology. "Led Zeppelin" (appropriate for Zeppelin fans of all ages) Located on the Windward Community College campus at 45-720 Keaʻahala Rd. in Kāneʻohe, Imaginarium shows are open to the public and enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Show Description - "Led Zeppelin" remains one of the most popular music shows, neck and neck with "Pink Floyd." The fulldome animations created for "Led Zeppelin" are the highest resolution ever made for a digital dome music show in a planetarium. Fulldome graphics bring to life Led Zeppelin's most famous songs, including "Stairway to Heaven," "Whole Lotta Love" and more. "Led Zeppelin" draws the audience further into surrealistic environments than any other music entertainment show, transporting visitors into dozens of mood-provoking settings that heighten the music experience. To ensure the audience is completely transported into the world of Led Zeppelin, there will be no live sky component to the show.

Manoa Bookstore Closed for Inventory

The Manoa Bookstore will be closed on Saturday, June 29, to take its annual year-end inventory. UH departments planning to purchase via IDO or PO and requiring an invoice from the Bookstore should make their purchases as soon as possible. Requests for invoices on Friday, June 28, may not be able to be fulfilled.

Asia Pacific Dance Festival

Kennedy Theatre and the UHM Dance Building

This year's Festival will be held July 8 to 26 and will showcase dance from Hawai'i, New Zealand, Korea, and Taiwan. The Festival incorporates performances, public lectures, and workshops. The Asia Pacific Dance Festival is a co-production of the East-West Center Arts Program and UH Mānoa's Outreach College. White Coat Ceremony for new MD students

A celebration for entering students who have earned admission to the John A. Burns School of Medicine. Families watch as the jubilant students are cloaked with the short white lab coats that identify them as medical students. Reaching all the way back to the 5th century before Christ, medical students traditionally recite the Oath of Hippocrates at the beginning of their studies and again when they are awarded the time-honored title of Medical Doctor. The Incoming Class of 2017 at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) will experience that tradition during their White Coat Ceremony on July 20, location to be determined. The class is led in the oath by Dr. William Haning, President of the JABSOM Alumni Association.

Our newest MD students and their families celebrate a great achievement: the student has won admission to the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). More than 1,500 applicants compete every year for 66 entering MD slots, so there's much to celebrate! Jubilant students will be "cloaked" (presented with the shorter white coats which identify them as MD students) by JABSOM MD alumni. Reaching all the way back to the 5th century before Christ, medical students traditionally recite the Oath of Hippocrates at the beginning of their studies during the White Coat Ceremony, and again when they are awarded the time-honored title of Medical Doctor at Convocation. The Incoming Class of 2017 at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) will experience that tradition during their White Coat Ceremony on July 19, from 6:30 p.m. until about 8:30 p.m. The class is led in the oath by Dr. William Haning, President of the JABSOM Alumni Association. UH Commission on the Status of Women Conference

The goal of the conference is for participants to join the university in promoting and implementing healthy living strategies within their own professional and personal lives. Participants will have an opportunity to gain insights from outstanding women leaders in our business, higher education and alumna communities regarding cultivating their own leadership, knowledge and skills through their own professional development; building knowledge of emerging issues at the national, state, higher education levels; and discovering how to perceive their personal vulnerabilities as positive assets. The conference welcomes UH faculty, professional and clerical staff members (male and female included) to participate. Registration is free and will include lunch and conference materials.
