Dr. Kim will first explore prospects and policy issues for the Korean economy for the near term looking at factors affecting economic growth, employment, the consumer price index and the current account outlook. Following this introduction he will explore policy issues for long-term economic growth such as promoting the economic recovery through fiscal soundness and monetary easing, deregulation, and a creative economy. This would include positive structural adjustment, economic democracy and job creating economic growth. He will conclude by addressing issues affecting public corporations including the debt burden and labor union issues.

Kim Kwang-Doo is the President and Chairman of the Institute for the Future State in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Kim served as a Professor and Dean of the College of Commerce and Economics, in the Graduate School of Sogang University and is currently a Chair Professor at Sogang University. Dr. Kim has been a Member of the Monetary Board, Bank of Korea, President of the Society for the International Commerce and Trade, President of the Korean International Economics Society, Member of the Advisory Committee of the Minister for S & T policy, Ministry of Science and Technology, and has served as an Outside Director for a number corporations including Hyun-Dai Motors Service Co., Ltd, Asia Merchant Bank Co., Ltd., Dong-Yang Department Store Co., Ltd., Keum-Ho Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Seoul Bank, serving as the Chairman of the Board. Dr. Kim was a radio columnist on economic matters for MBC Radio and KBS Radio and an editorial writer for Joong-Ang Economic Daily Newspaper. Dr. Kim has served as advisor to the Korea Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Korean Industries and he has numerous publications in both English and Korean
