Saxophone Choir

The UH Saxophone Choir serves as a performing ensemble as well as a materclass. This class is open to all saxophonists: students, professionals and community members. Participants will cover topics concerning pedagogy and fundamentals including:

Students have the opportunity to apply these techniques in small and large chamber groups, which performs every semester. The ensemble covers a wide repertoire from medieval, classical to atonal and jazz music. Interested participants may also receive a Mus 410 credit (Chamber Music).

Master classes have given students the opportunity to work and learn with guest artists from around the country including Harvey Pittel, Todd Oxford and Gabe Baltazar. The ensemble has performed with many guest artists including saxophonists Gabe Baltazar, percussionist Noel Okimoto, and saxophonists David Choy and Tim Tsukiyama.

The ensemble is directed by Todd Yukumoto.
