Communicate with the Senate
WHEREAS human resource management has become an increasingly important and demanding function in both the private and public sectors; and
WHEREAS current graduate programs, including the Masters of Business Administration and Executive MBA degree, do not fully meet the needs of specialists in human resource management; and
WHEREAS there is a well-established demand for a Master's in Human Resource Management in Hawaii; and
WHEREAS the UHM College of Business Administration is the only institution in Hawaii that can offer human resource professionals an AACSB (American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited graduate program in human resource management; and
WHEREAS the Master's in Human Resource Management program will focus on the specific needs of Hawaii and the Asia/Pacific region, as well as build a stronger link between the UHM College of Business Administration and the business and public sectors of Hawaii; now
Therefore, be it RESOLVED that the Manoa Faculty Senate recommends the approval of the Master's in Human Resource Management.
