Resolution on Substantive Business over the Summer
Approved by the UH Mānoa Faculty Senate
May 5, 2010
WHEREAS principles of shared governance imply that there should be no decisions on substantive issues such as reorganizations during faculty off-duty periods when relevant subcommittees of the UH Manoa Faculty Senate do not meet and discussion of such matters by the full Faculty Senate is not possible:
Therefore: Be it resolved that the UH Manoa Faculty Senate request that the "clock" on such matters be suspended during the faculty off-duty period. 2.
Be it further resolved, in particular regarding reorganizations, that the UH Manoa Faculty Senate requests that the 45 day period for the Senate Executive Committee to respond to reorganization proposals (Manoa Reorganization Process: Administrative Procedure M3.101) be suspended until the faculty are back on duty and the Senate is in session.
