Resolution Supporting the Hiring of a Student Enrollment Manager and the Development of an Enrollment Management Program
Whereas, Manoa wishes to attract, recruit and retain high-achieving and well-qualified resident and non-resident undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, and
Whereas, Manoa currently does not have an office responsible for coordinating enrollment management functions that will lead toward an optimal student population mix, and satisfactory retention and graduation rates; and
Whereas, An external evaluation recently recommended the development of the university's enrollment management capabilities; and
Whereas, Large annual tuition increases beginning Fall 2006 will present major enrollment challenges for the next 6 years; Therefore be it Resolved:
The Senate supports the timely hiring of an enrollment manager and the development of a comprehensive enrollment management program, under the Manoa Chancellor.
The system-controlled aspects of enrollment management, such as financial assistance planning, should be reassigned to the Chancellor.
The Chancellor's office will report to the Senate its progress on developing enrollment management capacity, functions, and programs to the Faculty Senate within one year.
