RESOLUTION REGARDING A PROPOSED DISTANCE LEARNING GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM ON TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

WHEREAS, the field of telecommunications is fast growing and ever evolving, with great potential for entrepreneurs and the business community, and
WHEREAS, the strategic plans for the University System and Manoa campus state the need to "facilitate technology education" and to "serve as an innovator and a conduit for new technologies and their applications in society," and
WHEREAS, the proposed certificate will allow graduate students as well as working professionals to access its course of study due to its distance learning capabilities, and
WHEREAS, the proposed certificate is a collaborative effort by the Hawaii Center for Advanced Telecommunications in the College of Engineering and the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and E-Business in the College of Business Administration, and
WHEREAS, the Committee on Academic Policy and Planning has reviewed and endorsed the proposal, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, the Manoa Faculty Senate approves the Distance Learning Graduate Certificate Program on Telecommunications and Entrepreneurship.
