Theatre Major
Course Requirements
In addition to all University of Hawai‘i requirements, the Department of Theatre and Dance requires 42 credit hours for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre.In these 42 hours, students will take the following courses:
- THEA 240,
- THEA 311,
- THEA 312,
- THEA 411,
- THEA 412,
- Two (2) courses in Asian theatre (one in theory, history, or literature and one in performance),
- One (1) course each in acting, voice and movement, directing, design, and youth theatre, and
- Six (6) credits of theatre practicum (THEA 200 and 400 alpha).
Other Important Notes
Every declared theatre major is required to meet with an adviser every semester. (Current advisor is Julie A. Iezzi; email: iezzi@hawaii.edu; phone: 808 956-4377.Prior to graduation, all theatre students must submit of a portfolio of student work eight weeks into the student's final semester. A mandatory mentoring system is in place to guide each student through their coursework and their portfolio presentation.
Finally, all students are required to participate in an exit interview.
