About
the Kennedy Theatre
The Kennedy Theatre
is a beautiful 600-seat facility that was built to accommodate both
Asian and Western staging techniques. The complex also includes
the 150-seat "black-box" Earle Ernst Lab Theatre and limited office
and classroom space. Kennedy Theatre was opened in December 1963
and is believed to be the first public building named after the
late president.
The building's beautiful
design and accompanying Jefferson Hall at the East-West Center complex
are credited to the internationally known architect I.M. Pei, who
also designed the Louvre Pyramid and the East Wing of the National
Gallery of Art.
