The qualification for an MFA in acting should be judged by a group of experiences rather than resting on one qualifying and one final performance. The following would serve as a framework for acting students in each area.

2-3 Youth Theatre performances on Main Stage

3 Times Acting in Directing Classes

2-3 Other (if 3 Main Stage, 2 Other)

3 Western Theatre Performances on Main Stage

3 Times Acting Directing Classes

2 Other

3 Asian Performances in 3 productions on Main Stage

3 Acting in Asian Directing Scenes

2 Other performances in Asian, Western, or Youth Theatre

NOTE: Reduce 680 directing requirement of 3 cr. And add 3 cr. additional Asian or Western Acting.

• Committee discretion for acceptance of variations.
• First major acting experience, mainstage or otherwise, will serve as qualifier.
• Candidates keep written records of each experience. Annual meetings with the committee will include a presentation of candidate's summary and evaluation of that year's work and discussion plans for the following year.
• Final portfolio assessment, including summative written evaluation of the three years' work that goes beyond a descriptive record.
